Hi, my name is Hongteng Lyu. I was born in Xiamen, China, on February 08, 2000. I had decided to come to the United States to study abroad when I was 15 years old.

 

I went to a high school called "St Mary's Preparatory High School". It's a Catholic boy's school located in Michigan. After high school, I decided to come to Pennsylvania to explore the new environment. I am currently a junior student at the Pennsylvania State University Park, majoring in Corporate Innovation and Entrepreneurship(CLENT). The reason why I had chosen this major is because I have always been interested in starting my own business. As far as I know, China business market is currently lacking people who have the ability to start their own business.

When I first got into college, I joined the Event Planning department of Pennsylvania State University Chinese Undergraduate Students Association (aka CUSA). I have gained a lot of experience in event planning and I learned a lot from my colleagues. I remembered one time, I had participated in the planning of an event called "The Voice Of PSU'', which is a Singing contest for our college. I learned how to work with the stage and gained a lot of knowledge about sounding and lighting.

 

In addition, I had also participated in the planning of a competition about Esports–– which is a platform that helps regulate and organize multiple video gamers or teams into competitions. Esports is currently the most popular online competition in the world. During this time, I become more comfortable in organizing and how to negotiate with others when an issue occurs. Additionally, I learned how to stay calm when something happened unexpectedly and get myself together so I can come up with a Plan B or solutions to solve the issue. At the same time, I am also a game lover, so I am very keen on planning events.
